Would I ever have expected GM to include a diesel in the Equinox powertrain lineup.
The 2.0T was expected, as was the 1.5T (good riddance you shitty 2.4L.) Diesel though? Hell no.
I’m honestly doubting it will sell all that hot, but kudos to GM for going through with even offering it with all this VW diesel hubbub.
Another reason for celebration? The current developed during the GM bankruptcy shitshow Equinox is finally dead. It’s been on sale for 7-ish years, but it feels like about double that.

Damn that’s a good looking car!

Agreed. I’m not huge on the color they showed it off in though.

It would look fantastic in a metallic brown or silver IMO

A nice dark metallic blue would look fantastic too I think

GM’s really stepping their game up and I’m proud of ‘em.

A nicely matured Equinox. Doesn’t look like its meant to be fleet fodder now.

No more buggy eyes either!

Last time I chatted with a GM powertrain engineer his comment was “we are designing/building better cars again, we just need to convince the public of that.” This is certainly a step in the right direction.

If you think the current-now-previous-gen Equinox is bad, you haven’t seen the original Equinox a.k.a. Pontiac Torrent.
Anyone remember THIS steering wheel?

I just try not to remember this one ever existed. Despite my neighbor having one.

They’re going to sell a diesel Equinox in the US!? That’s fantastic!

Doing a goodwill repair on a slave cylinder that failed 2 weeks past warranty would help convince me.
NO IM NOT BITTER

I’m actually wondering about the size of this. The original ones were Theta derived from Epsilon, which is midsize, but this new one is Delta apparently, which is a compact.
So another reason they are adding the diesel is probably to scoop up any Tiguan TDI slack.

Eh . . . I know I’m in the minority, but I think Chevy’s new styling trend is fugly. It may just be my Ford bias though.

My boss drives one. It’s an 08 and its already starting to rust away, all the paint is peeling off. I just saw an HHR today with paint peeling off the hatch too.

I totally understand that, I am still not buying a GM product when free of my TDI as the only model that is close to what I want is the outgoing Equinox and that is a big nope.

It’s good to see that Chevy is starting to care about exterior aesthetics for the first time in at least a decade.

I find the new model ugly, but I prefer it over the unspeakably boring outgoing model.

It looks very French to me for some reason. It was a little jarring on first sight but it photographs well. I’ll have to see it in person before I pass total judgement.

It has a French name I guess.
